Paulus Potter

Paulus Potter is the photographer; Jeroen Dunahlpe is his pseudonym as a painter. His favourite classes at school were art and stereometry (three-dimensional geometry). He developed his drawing style in the third grade at school, together with his neighbour Jan. At that time he learned a lot from his art teacher (who always arrived at his Harley Davidson). Around the same time he started to photograph and printed his own photos in his darkroom. When the digital camera came a new world opened for him. He did not take any specific art or photography classes.

“In former days I made only black and white drawings. After that I made water-colour paintings, which is exciting and can give unexpected outcomes. Of both an example is present at this site. The last couple of years I’ve been making oil paintings. Oil paint gives you more options regarding to colour. With some good music on the background, such as Café del Mar of Gotan Project, I really enjoy painting and the time flies.”

He finds photography captivating, especially making photos of people, buildings or events. “Photography is the art of seeing a composition and than quickly fixing it. Photography knows two secrets: ‘light’ and ‘background’ “said Paulus Potter. Remarkable is that not one image at any way is manipulated with.Paulus Potter likes to more closely develop his special items such as window headstocks. The district “Gooi & Vechtstreek” interests him especially because he lives there. Amsterdam attracts him as well, because he was born there and France because it is his second birth country.

Much pleasure visiting the site.
